new york book of mormon musical

Several months ago we heard about the "Book of Mormon Musical" and reserved tickets to go.

Our friend Jason made us breakfast on his rooftop deck.

Eric tries a new drink on Fire Island.

The trip was a whirlwind flurry, full of interesting sights and good friends. The Book of Mormon Musical was outrageous, funny, irreverent, and sometimes tender. What else would you expect from the creators of South Park?

  1. I LOVE these pictures, Percy. I so appreciate seeing the world through your eyes.

By the way, what else can you tell us about the Book of Mormon?

  2. It highlighted some quirky doctrinal and social aspects of the culture. I found it particularly healing and fun for myself, having come from that background, and it still influencing the way I see the world in many ways. Some of the pokes were over-the-top in a way, but then I just laughed, since part of the point is that we can't get too serious about anything - all the time, and need to learn to question and critically think. The main character was a very lovable missionary who ends up growing into his fuller self, while honoring both his religious values and the people he served in Africa. It ends up being something of: "boy this sub-culture is quirky, but the people sure are nice, sincere people." I think the audience left feeling an increased fondness for people at large.

  3. It's always fun and interesting to see what you are up to and I enjoy your take on things too. Your post on smoking was quite thought provoking.
